The Story

Terri Simmons, M.A., LSC, LPCC-S is dual-licensed in both school counseling and mental health counseling. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron in Elementary Education with a minor in psychology in 1992. She worked as a teacher in the Perry Local Schools for eight years while she pursued her master's degree in school counseling at Walsh University.

In 1999, Terri completed her master's degree and began working in the North Canton City Schools as a school counselor. She continued her education at Walsh University and completed additional clinical coursework to receive a license in clinical mental health. She is a certified practitioner, coach and trainer in trauma and resilience through STARR COMMONWEALTH. In all, Terri has 34 years’ experience in education along with 26 years serving as a school counselor.

Terri has extensive experience working with youth, adults and families in diagnosing and treatment of mental health conditions as a clinical mental health counselor for the last 15 years. She is holistic in her approach and uses resiliency and trauma-informed practices. Because of her experience working as a mediator as well, she is instrumental in helping family systems resolve conflict and facilitate family reunification. Additionally, she provides crisis counseling for families and adults when dealing with trauma, grief and loss.

She is dedicated to continue to use and learn evidence-based practices in helping individuals meet their goals and attain wholeness and wellness in their everyday lives.

Carrie VanMeter, Ph.D., LPCC, LSC is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Licensed Professional School Counselor (LSC), independently licensed to diagnose and treat mental health conditions since 2016. She earned her master’s degree in Community Counseling from Heidelberg University and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and School Counseling Certificate from The University of Toledo.

Carrie’s educational background has provided her with a strong foundation to support her clients' growth. She believes taking the first step towards wellness is a brave and transformative decision. Carrie embraces a holistic approach to counseling, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in an individual's journey towards healing and growth. She is passionate about creating a warm and supportive space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and discover their inner strength.

Carrie has worked with individuals within a variety of settings, from community mental health agencies to schools and private practice. Her background includes addressing challenges ranging from everyday stressors to trauma and abuse. Her diverse experience has given her an enduringrespect for the unique personal challenges each of us may face.

Beyond her clinical work, Carrie is also passionate about counselor education. She currently serves as an associate faculty at Capella University; and previously spent eight years at Walsh University overseeing the school counseling program. This experience keeps her informed aboutthe latest research and best practices, ensuring her clients receive the most effective and compassionate care.

Carrie is currently accepting new adolescent and adult clients and looks forward to the opportunity to walk alongside them on the path to well-being. She encourages those seeking services to reach out to schedule an appointment.
