The Story

Terri Simmons, M.A., LSC, LPCC-S is dual-licensed in both school counseling and mental health counseling. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron in Elementary Education with a minor in psychology in 1992. She worked as a teacher in the Perry Local Schools for eight years while she pursued her master's degree in school counseling at Walsh University.

In 1999, Terri completed her master's degree and began working in the North Canton City Schools as a school counselor. She continued her education at Walsh University and completed additional clinical coursework to receive a license in clinical mental health. She is a certified practitioner, coach and trainer in trauma and resilience through STARR COMMONWEALTH.

Terri has extensive experience working with youth, adults and families in diagnosing and treatment of mental health conditions as a clinical mental health counselor for the last 15 years. She is holistic in her approach and uses resiliency and trauma-informed practices. Because of her experience working as a mediator as well, she is instrumental in helping family systems resolve conflict and facilitate family reunification. Additionally, she provides crisis counseling for families and adults when dealing with trauma, grief and loss.

She is dedicated to continue to use and learn evidence-based practices in helping individuals meet their goals and attain wholeness and wellness in their everyday lives.
